Here at Tech Wheelhouse we’re always looking for innovative ways to improve the HxGN user experience!
By using Extensible Framework, we can display additional information to the user on any given screen. This information may be relevant to the screen, a specific field, or even vary by user group!
Going one step further, the display can be made dynamic based on the user’s input while it is being typed – as opposed to when the record is saved or when the user is done typing the full value.
Example: Password Requirements (Display & Validation)
Problem:
On the My Account screen, where users can perform password resets, there is no indication of the password requirements.
HxGN EAM does not feature a modern password requirement display & validation functionality.
Users don’t know that their new password is invalid until they try to save it.
Solution:
We used Extensible Framework to subtly display the password requirements just under the password reset fields.
We also programmed it to validate the new password as it’s being entered, providing the user immediate feedback as each individual requirement is met.

Why Use Dynamic Reference Text:
Alleviate Ambiguity & Confusion: Having access to relevant contextual information allows users to carry out their work more efficiently, avoiding the need to stop for clarification.
Reduce External Document Usage: Reduce reliance on external documentation to communicate simple data requirements – instead put them on full display for users to easily follow!
Improve Data Validity: Allow EAM to react with immediate feedback as data is entered and help prevent painful data cleanups in the future!
